The New York Times, an upstart little paper from NYC, is reporting today that Dick Ebersol, the head of NBC Sports since 1989, will not return to the network after he and new bosses Comcast failed to reach an agreement on a new contract; Ebersol technically ended up resigning his post. SportsOlogy is delighted by this news since we wrote about Ebersol yesterday; this new development only confirms SportsOlogy's status as both a purveyor of incontrovertible truth and a bastion of remarkable prescience.
Dick Ebersol talks about Nazis and Sean Salisbury's d*ck.
What to make of Ebersol's reign at NBC? Most observers have been quick to criticize Ebersol's notable failures. Here's what we'll remember him for:
- Every time we turned on NBC and saw yet another sh*tty Notre Dame team playing football on national television.
- The 17 guys who comprise the confusing Sunday Night Football broadcast.
- The Olympics, which always made us wonder who still cares about the Olympics. Besides Dick Ebersol, that is.
- He Hate Me. 'Nuff said.
- Our confusion over what exactly the Versus network is.
- Ebersol's comments about ESPN. Brilliant. See the linked post above.
- We seriously thought for a long time that Dick Ebersol and Dick Enberg were the same person:

Ebersol will be replaced by Mark Lazarus. Insert "Rising from the Dead" joke here.
