The Beastie Boys just recently dropped their first proper album in seven years, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, but Adam Horovitz announced there will be no tour plans until rapper Adam Yauch aka MCA is free from cancer.
Yauch has been undergoing cancer treatment for a tumor since 2009, but he's still not out of the clear yet. His prognosis looks good so far, with his turn to a strict vegan diet and and use of Chinese medicine. However, Adam Horovitz admits that any live dates are not going to happen until Yauch is back to full health.
Horovitz says, “We’re not touring, we’re just getting the record out – and we’re
not making any plans until he is better. Which is definitely going to
happen.”
He also added, "He’s still in treatment, so it’s not 100 per cent (clear). But things are looking good."
So don't fret, fans. Horovitz thinks that MCA will make a full comeback soon (we do too) and will be better than ever by the time their next album drops, saying “I have a feeling the next record is going to be the most
insane party record you ever heard. Because if you go through something
like what Yauch’s going through, I mean, s**t. After that, you must feel
pretty good.”
Sounds good to us. It's something worth waiting for and they've got our full support.
