Handbags Carry More Bacteria than a Toilet Seat!
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Many ladies love their handbags and will spend a lot of money for the latest and greatest, but a new study says what is inside those bags may be covered in germs worse than what you’ll find in the bathroom.

Picture This: 2011 Met Gala

The Metropolitan Museum of Art held their annual Costume Institute Gala last night, honoring the work of late designer Alexander McQueen, whose exhibition is currently on display at The Met (check out our exclusive preview of the exhibit). Second only to the Oscars in terms of extravagant red carpet fashion, the stars came out in droves donning the gowns of some of the fashion world's most praised designers. Some looks were more successful than others, but most must be given credit for going all out and embracing high fashion in all its forms.

Let's start with the worst dressed of the evening...

Jennifer Lopez

J-Lo wore a beautiful Gucci gown, and should have stopped there. But not this Jenny from the block. Oh no, she had to throw an entire bouquet of roses on each shoulder. And just in time for allergy season. I bet Marc Antony was sniffling throughout the entire event.

Naomi Campbell

Ms. Campbell looks like she just escaped from a mental institute, wearing one of the few Alexander McQueen originals on the red carpet, but failing to match the intensity of the gown with her hair and accessories. Her stylist must have thought she was on her way to the prom with that 'do.

Mary-Kate Olsen

Olsen Twin #1 is wearing vintage Givenchy Couture, and is quite simply drowning in it. Not only is the dress ill-fitting on Mary-Kate's petite frame, but the color combination is just not appropriate for a spring gala event. I have to give her credit, though, for making a bold color choice, rather than staying safe with white or black like so many of her peers.

Rihanna

Now first let me say that I love this dress by Stella McCartney. I really do. The lace is superb, and the trail is amazing. But Rihanna's ended up on the worst dressed list because of that ridiculous braid on the side of her head. With all that potential below the neck, it's a shame she missed it with the hairdo.

Beyoncé

It's mermaid meets couture meets Persian rug. There's just too much going on here. The choker at the neck, the gold detailing on the torso, the mermaid tulle at the bottom. It's a whole lot of look.

Fergie

This is another instance where I want to give her credit for being bold and brave, but she just missed the mark. This Marchesa gown looks like it was designed for a wedding, not for a red carpet. And quite frankly, it doesn't seem to fit her. It looks like she can't put her arms down at her side. Not good.

Tom Brady's Hair

We all know how I feel about Tom Brady's hair. So I'm not too surprised that he showed up to the Gala with his long locks slicked down to this head like a football helmet. Ugh! Get a f@&*ing haircut!

Which brings us to the best dressed...

Gisele Bundchen

Giselle looks stunning in an Alexander McQueen original. The dress is dramatic, the hair is perfection, and her body looks amazing!

Ginnifer Goodwin

The rising starlet looks unbelievably amazing in this custom Topshop Unique. The color is bold and unique, the cut outs are perfectly placed, and the accessories are complimentary in the best way possible.

Diane Kruger

She is rocking this dress by Jason Wu, and is styled to perfection! The top, the slit, the shoes, the hair. This look is stunning!

Daphne Guinness

Ms. Guinness got dressed in a window at Barneys and still looks fantastic in this Alexander McQueen original. It's like something out of a fairy tale, and who doesn't love feathers?!

Emma Stone

She actually looks amazing, which is pretty impressive for someone who has gone through quite a transformation over the years. This dress by Lanvin is elegant and dramatic, and Ms. Stone looks fresh and fabulous!

Michelle Williams

The Oscar-nomiee looks chic (as always) in Miu Miu. The pattern is intriguing and the top is elegant. And she's just such a beautiful woman.

Hailee Steinfeld

The 14-year old Oscar-nominee never ceases to amaze me. She looks stunning, yet again, in this Stella McCartney dress. She looks far more sophisticated than many of her elders on the red carpet. Beautiful!

Who do you think should have made the best and worst dressed lists?
