Hey remember almost two weeks ago when Atlas Shrugged: Part 1 came out? Yeah, that's probably going to be the only Atlas Shrugged. Ever. At least for a while.
Since the film has only made about $3 million dollars in profit so far, and the critics attacked it with all they had (GRRR! LIBERAL MEDIA WILL CRUSH YOU!) the producer of the film John Agilaloro got all said and decided to call it quits.
"Critics you won." Agilaloro states to the LA Times, "I'm having deep second thoughts about why I should do Part 2." If you remember, Agilarloro funded Atlas Shrugged with his own money and considerable contributions from various Tea Party websites.
"Why shoul I put up all of that money if the critics are coming in like lemmings? I'll make my money back and I'll make a profit, but do I wanna go and do two? Maybe I just wanna see my grandkids and go on strike." That assumed money he'll be making back is estimated in TV, DVD and other various syndication deals. I also like that only a true Objectivist would consider seeing family going on strike. What really stinks though is all those people who saw the movie hoping it would get them out of reading a book. The good news for them is that they now only have to read the latter 2/3rds.
