Justin Vernon, aka Bon Iver, released 50 seconds of music from his upcoming album, complete with a teaser of the cover art. The preview promises more of what we've come to love about Bon Iver - haunting vocal, spare instrumentation and a mellow, wintry guitar sound. Breathe easy guys: there will be new music to listen to the next time you fight with your significant other/have some sad and/or meaningful sex/lose your job/wander aimlessly through the woods behind your house/go for a drive to nowhere/catch some fish.
Vernon has released a press statement about the new album - ten songs, self-titled - and "an expanded palette that includes silky electric guitars, beautifully intricate keys, and subtle horn and string sections." I feel like Bon Iver is trying to sell me a house. A house made of midwestern log cabin music, maybe. Whatever, I'm excited. I've listened to For Emma, Forever Ago too many times. A person can only slow dance to "Beach Baby" so often! Here's a track listing:
1. Perth
2. Minnesota, WI
3. Holocene
4. Towers
5. Michicant
6. Hinnom, TX
7. Wash.
8. Calgary
9. Lisbon, OH
10. Beth/Rest
