Dag, yo, this is a great year for science fiction. "Soft" sci-fi like Limitless, Source Code and The Adjustment Bureau hitting the box office, with more Phillip K. Dick adaptations to follow. Meanwhile, legit "hard" sci-fi dude Ray Bradbury is getting some love too.
Bradbury, 90, best known for penning Farenheit 451 and The Illustrated Man, published short-story collection The Martian Chronicles in 1950, a look at humans attempting to colonize Mars in "the future" (1999 to 2057, LOLz). Universal's hold on the rights, established in 1997, expired recently, and sources say that Paramount have snapped them up.
The Martian Chronicles has already been adapted to the screen once in 1980, a three-part NBC and BBC miniseries starring Rock Hudson. We hope Bradbury's out celebrating with crunk juice and ho's right now. Like Anne McCaffrey, he's still. Writing. It's. Crazy. I don't even have the energy to go to yoga.
