Yay! The underrated Jeff Daniels (who's aging like a fine wine, BTW) has mostly stuck to Broadway lately, but he's apparently in talks with The Social Network and The West Wing writer/creator Aaron Sorkin to star in the Oscar-winning scribe's upcoming HBO pilot.
The show will be a behind-the-scenes look at a cable news show and the Anderson Cooper-ish newsanchor who stars in it (presumably Daniels). He has a female executive producer and colorful staff who apparently consider him "a pain in the ass to work for."
Sorkin reportedly researched during pre-production by hanging around with Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann at MSNBC as well as chilling on the set of Fox News. Man, you couldn't pay me a million dollars to do that, but here's hoping the first-hand look pays off for Sorkin ... we wouldn't want this to be a repeat of Studio 60.
