Justin Bieber's film Never Say Never is the third highest-grossing documentary of all time and now it's generating Oscar buzz!
Before you roll your eyes, look at the numbers. The film has grossed over $65 million to-date and could very well pass the second documentary, March of the Penguins, which brought in $77 million. It had the biggest opening weekend of any documentary ever with $29.5 million, which even surpassed Fahrenheit 9/11 (the highest-grossing doc of all time).
A source told The Hollywood Reporter that it was a serious topic of conversation at post-Oscar parties and that Academy members were impressed with the film and it's gross.
"You'd be surprised at the caliber of people who came up to Justin at the Vanity Fair party at the Sunset Tower, most of whom had seen the movie and loved it,"the source said. "There was even talk of putting it up for an Oscar next year in the documentary category. People appreciate that it's not just a kids' movie."
Woah. Could Biebs' movie actually win an Oscar?!?
