I can imagine how the plan was formed:
"$1 million in fake iPhones isn't cool. You know what's cool? $10 million in fake iPhones."
That's probably not the way things went down for brothers Bahram and Edward Zahab, but police have charged the pair with hoarding a warehouse full of stolen and counterfeit iPhones, iPods, and other electronics worth more money than I'll ever see in my life.
Inside the Zahab's warehouse of wonders, LA Port Police found more than $1.4 million in counterfeit goods; $2.5 million in stolen electronics, toys, and blankets (!); and bank account receipts indicating that the Zahabs had already pulled in more than $7 million with their operation. Who knew that illegal blankets were such a lucrative market?
The police force called it a "well-funded operation" with counterfeits that looked "very authentic," including fakes that were made to look like older iPad Nanos without the touch screens. Anyone unlucky enough to buy one might be ecstactic at the deal until he got home and discovered that his new toy was essentially a brick.
