The Vampire Diaries recap: Season 2, episode 13 "Daddy Issues" (2/3/11)
This episode illustrates the difference between vampires and werewolves: One nicely asks for a truce, the other tortures their foes until they crack.
Living
Elena doesn't appreciate John's return considering that he, you know, tried to kill the Salvatores multiple times. Tyler finds himself trapped with Stefan, who just wants to be friends. But it turns out that Jules has her own solution for the rivalry: Taking Tyler with her and leaving Mystic Falls. So, she nabs Caroline as collateral.
Outside of that drama, Matt wants to be with Caroline--who told Tyler that they couldn't be together--but her kidnapping derails things. Too bad that when says she was with Bonnie, he looks over at Bonnie (and Jeremy!) hanging out and knows that Caroline is lying.
Dead
As you can guess, Caroline got the raw end of the deal, getting tortured by wolves in the woods (see below for her badassery). Stefan and Damon come to rescue her and trade Tyler, but Jules and her cohorts are armed with stakes and other weaponry. Both brothers seem to be down for the count, but then who appears but Luka's dad, causing supernatural headaches all around! He tells Tyler to make sure that Jules and co. leave town and never return. Not sure if Tyler will go with them...
And lest we forget about Katherine in the tomb, John comes down to see her in the episode's last moments. She says she sent Stefan to find Isobel. John: "She got the message." Ooh, what could the three of them have cooked up?

The last few minutes surprised with a bevy of sweet moments.
#3: Damon in the bubblebath with a lady reporter. (Well, until he bites her...)
#2: Elena and Stefan mouthing "I love you" to each other.
#1: Elena and Bonnie coming to visit Caroline and have a sleepover!

Wrap-up: No Elena action this week, which may actually make things a lot more interesting--we have to see everyone else build themselves up, to potentially fall by season's end.
