Yesterday (January 24th),
Poison singer and pop-culture icon Bret Michaels underwent
heart-surgery to repair a hole
doctors found in May after he suffered a ministroke, and a
representative from the Phoenix's St. Joseph's Hospital says that the
rocker's surgery was successful, and that he is recovering well.
"Michaels
is currently recuperating at St. Joseph's where he remains for
observation in ICU."
Bret
has a laundry list of long-time medical conditions, including a
40-year battle with Type 1 Diabetes, an appendectomy, and near fatal
brain hemorrhage. However, despite the struggle, he says he maintains
an optimistic outlook on the future.
"It's
95 percent unbelievably great results," he said, regarding the
operation. "Of course, there's always the 5 percent risk at
anything you do with this kind of thing and I'm hoping I'll be in the
95 percent category."
Due
to the surgery, Bret has no plans to tour solo or with Poison, though
he has put together a some ambitions for the future:
"I
have a shirt 'Bret Michaels for President,'" he said. "I'd
be good. When I am drinking beer at the bar I have all the world's
problems solved."
