You guys enjoying StarCraft II patch 1.2? It's a whole new game out there, my friends--especially if you happen to be among the top 2% of online players in your region. Once you've gained membership in this exclusive group--invariably, by climbing a mountain of noob corpses--you'll become a member of SC2's newest league, the Master League. A new addition in 1.2, the Master League assembles the greatest StarCraft II players in the world for truly epic interstellar throwdowns. It's for those folks who were having too easy a time in Diamond League, the game's most rigorous arena before the implementation of 1.2.
If you're a Master League player who still isn't facing any real competition, I have two things to say to you:
1) Please, for the love of the Xel'Naga, teach me your ways, and
2) Don't worry: You'll soon be matched up with even better, nastier, more clever players in the Grandmaster League.
Grandmaster league? That's right, Marines, you'll soon be battling for control of a new and untested plateau. The Grandmaster League will include only 200 players from each region--the best of the best of the best, in other words. Only battlefield geniuses will be permitted entry; the rest of us will have to watch from the stands as these online titans clash for supremacy. It's sort of like a reverse gladiator scenario, when you think about it.
Definitely an interesting proposition, Blizzard, though yours truly will likely never see the honored halls of Platinum League, let alone the mist-shrouded peaks of Grandmaster. May I suggest, should this next tier prove too inclusive, the addition of a StarCraft II Elite Four? Worked out OK in the Kanto region.
