Tiger Woods isn't quite the visible icon he used to be.
More than a year ago EA Sports said it would stand by the world's most well-known golfer after he admitted to cheating on his then wife, but the latest game cover in the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise indicates that Woods is dealing with yet another struggling relationship. Because unless you count a figure that kind of looks like him (I circled the figure in red for easier reference), Woods is missing from the cover of his own video game.
In a statement to EuroGamer, EA Sports explicitly said that Woods isn't on PGA Tour 12's cover. I'm not so sure because that does look a lot like Woods' silhouette. Still, it's clear that EA is distancing itself from the former No. 1 golfer.
"We have no plans to move away from him, but it's a business relationship on the basis of we make the best golf game and he's the best golfer," EA chief John Riccitiello said.
"Both of those things need to be true in the long run for the partnership to make sense."
Ouch.
