There is plenty of good that comes with NBC's approaching finale of Saturday Night Live, so much so that it just might overshadow the inevitable mourning when it's all said and done. Argo director Ben Affleck will make his fifth standing as SNL host as it ends its 38th season, while Kanye West will surely leave fans talking with his role as musical guest. Those two very awesome things—and the chuckleworthy promo clips below—are just enough to make you forget that longtime player Bill Hader will be performing for the very last time on the Rockefeller Plaza stage. Also up for departure are Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis, but you know what, let's not even, we just can't, like, we can't even think about that. Bill Hader's departure from NBC's Saturday Night Live is timely enough after seven healthy seasons on the show, though quite inconveniently as his most memorable character—the flamboyantly eccentric Weekend Update clubber Stefon—hits his peak and further cements Hader as a household name. “This was a pretty great promo for Kristen Wiig, especially considering how well she works with Fred Armisen. She had so many funny characters before she left, so it’ll be interesting to see which ones they bring back. This weekend I’ll be working late at DISH and I definitely don’t want to miss it, so I set my DVR to record SNL. I tend to watch my TV shows while I’m cleaning up around the house, and I like that I can pause in the kitchen then continue in the living room with my DISH Hopper, so I can still be productive.”

Welp, that took long enough. Not even a full season after exiting the NBC flagship sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, seven-year player Kristen Wiig will return to the famed studio for her very first hosting gig. She follows a hallowed list of alumni who have transitioned from player to lead, a roster that most recently boasts Will Ferrell, Tracy Morgan and Amy Poehler but reaches as far back as Chevy Chase and Bill Murray. While most of Wiig's iconic characters are still fresh in the minds of devoted SNL fans, it'll be intriguing to see how they're put to use in Saturday's upcoming episode, which features Vampire Weekend doing the musical honors for the evening. As NBC's longstanding sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live winds down its 38th season, the show has landed some major stars in order to go out with a ratings bang: actor Zach Galifianakis will lead the night on next Saturday, May 4th to begin the season's three-week closing run, with musical guest Of Monsters and Men.
