T.I.L.F.T...Fall: Jay-Z's memoir

Call me Jigga. Some years ago--never mind how long precisely--having little or no cheddar in my pocket, and nothing particular to interest me in the Marcy Projects, I thought I would try my hand at conquering this rap game…

Hurry up and finish that copy of Infinite Jest because Jay-Z’s long-awaited memoir is finally coming out. Dubbed Decoded, the 336-page hardcover drops on November 16th and is co-written by former The Source editor Dream Hampton. A mixture of interviews, autobiography, and lyrics analysis, the book is expected to delve into Hov’s difficult upbringing, including an absent father and teen years spent dealing cocaine.

Completed several years ago, Jay-Z was at first reluctant to release the overtly personal project. As he told Rolling Stone earlier this year, “It's too much. For the book, I was interviewed, people close to me were interviewed. So I was learning a lot of things I didn't know as a child… It's not anything I haven't said in the past, in songs. It's just more detailed. A song is three minutes long. A book doesn't have to rhyme, and it has no time limit, so you can say exactly how everything went."

Whether or not all our deep, burning questions will be answered—personally, I want to know what “Forever Young” did to deserve that shudder-inducing rehash—Decoded is sure to be a good read for Jay-Z fans and DEA agents alike. Fingers crossed he’s more open talking about himself on the page than on late night talk shows.
