British band Hot Chip headlined an incredible, sweat-soaked performance in NYC's Central Park last night.
Opening acts Holy Ghost! and Hercules and Love Affair set the mood with feel good disco while the sun still shone--not that daylight prevented the crowd from dancing. After darkness fell, Hot Chip's first song, "And I Was a Boy From School," quenched the audience's thirst for rich sound. The humid New York air didn't stop the band from sampling all their albums, playing crowd favorites like "One Life Stand" and "Over and Over." The night was a blanket of musk, causing Hot Chip and the crowd to shed layers of clothing.
Sadly (or happily), vocalist/synth player Joe Goddard was unable to attend because his wife is expecting their first child. The other members made sure to pay due tribute to their beloved bandmate, closing the concert with a gloriously extended version of "Ready for the Floor" that seemed to make Manhattan rumble.
