It’s back! The most effective form of birth control since
the pill. Ok, that claim is totally not scientifically proven. But watching the
16-year-old girls of MTV’s Teen Mom
struggle through the birth and fist year of their children’s lives has
certainly kept this 26- year-old from getting pregnant.
And I just know season two, which premieres tonight at 10
p.m. EST, will serve the same purpose. Sure I’m 10 years older than Catelynn,
Farrah, Maci and Amber, and ‘women’ my age are planning out their weddings
while gassing up the car for that long trip toward child-rearing, but I’ll
admit it: I’m selfish. I enjoy a glass or three of Jameson on the rocks every
weekend and I can barely handle the stress of taking care of a dog, let alone a
crying infant and an equally cranky father.
Luckily though, I can watch and learn from these girls. And
who knows, maybe even mature alongside them through the next few months. But
before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s catch up on what’s in store for the
teen moms this season.
Catelynn: She
misses her daughter Carly, who she gave up for adoption at the beginning of
last season. No surprise there. But oh my goodness – Catelynn and the fiancé
(Tyler) are having relationship issues! It looks like she’s moving back in with
her mom and step dad, who happens to be Tyler’s biological father. And let’s
just say Catelynn and the step dad don’t see eye-to-eye.
Farrah: At the
end of last season, it appeared as if miss popular party girl Farrah finally
understood what it meant to be a mother. She started spending more time with
her daughter Sophia and less time back talking her own mother. But all hell has
broken lose. The cops are called this season after Farrah’s mom punches her in
the face and we can only assume that Farrah is back to her disrespectful diva
ways.
Maci: It’s safe
to say Maci is the best mom out of the bunch. Last season she repeatedly put
her son, Bentley, first and rationally tried to work stuff out with his father,
Ryan. But this season, I don’t
know. Not really feeling this new guy who’s creeping into the picture. I’m
going to stay quiet on this one though, until it pans out of course.
Amber: She just
makes me so sad. Last season Amber battled depression, opted out of getting her
GED and became physically abusive with her boyfriend, Gary. It looks like he
might actually be standing up for himself this season, but at what cost to
their daughter, Leah. Oh, and Amber could be pregnant again?!
