Well, here we are: two days away from GRAMMY night and onto our final round of Ology's 2013 GRAMMY predictions: our picks for which bands, artists, albums and songs will win, should win and "what the hell, dude?" should've been nominated.
Today's Category:
Album Of The Year
The Nominees:
El Camino – The Black Keys
Some Nights – fun.
Babel – Mumford & Sons
channel ORANGE – Frank Ocean
Blunderbuss – Jack White
Will Win:

Babel – Mumford & Sons
You've got to admit, the GRAMMYs did I fantastic job of picking the Album of the Year nominees this time around. That said, because everyone I know is rooting for Frank Ocean to win, the cynic in me can only assume they'll mess it up and give it to fun. or Mumford & Sons… and I'm betting on the latter because 1.) it's a great album, and 2.) it sold a trillion billion copies. Honestly, though, they're all pretty great records and you couldn't go too wrong with any of them coming out on top.
Should Win:

channel ORANGE – Frank Ocean
Frank has (let's hope) the Best New Artist category locked, which is another reason the GRAMMYs might pass him over for Album Of The Year. That said, I think we all (secretly or otherwise) know that channel ORANGE was without doubt the album on everyone's minds last year. It topped every respectable Top Albums of 2012 list, it had a whole dramatic back-story behind it, etc. I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't win (unless it loses to fun.) but I think it definitely deserves to.
Should've Been Nominated:

Believe – Justin Bieber
Okay, calm down. Follow my logic here. The only thing better than seeing five great albums (well, four great albums and one okay-I-guess debut) battle it out for Album of the Year would be seeing four great albums and Justin Bieber nominated for Album of the Year… and then watching the look on his face when a name that doesn't rhyme with "disgusting fever" gets announced. As much as I love that the GRAMMYs blatantly snubbed that little brat, now he's got that underdog martyr complex going on, which is absurd and beyond obnoxious. I can't help but think it would've been infinitely more entertaining had he been nominated for a ton of awards and won none of them than to not be nominated at all. Shrug, food for thought.
