TV Mania—Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes' nineties art project with former Duran guitarist Warren Cuccurullo—will finally release its long-shelved album Bored With Prozac And The Internet? on March 11 via The Vinyl Factory.
In the meantime, mysterious forces (could it be Nick himself, making his well-overdue Twitter debut?) behind @TVManiaMusic have been tweeting an odd assortment of images and intriguing nonsequitors. (My favorite: "I have cultivated my hysteria with pleasure and terror" along with a photo of a large dog cradling an odd looking doll.)
Even more exciting, a quick snippet of Bored With Prozac song "Beautiful Clothes" has appeared on Soundcloud. Give it a listen below.
First thoughts? It's about what I expected (an industry friend of mine with first-hand access to the original TV Mania demos described them as "Medazzaland meets Arcadia meets Frank Zappa")… maybe even more guitar-heavy, which should be exciting for my fellow '90s Duran fans out there. Not too much to freak out over just yet, but if you weren't already geared up for Bored With Prozac And The Internet?, this just might do the trick.
