S&M, Catholic imagery, black & white dance sequences...haven't we seen this before?
In her latest contribution to the American cultural zeitgeist, Lady Gaga presents her music video interpretation of "Alejandro", the newest single off her Fame Monster album. We love the song, we love the Lady, but we don't love this video. The singer and her Haus of Gaga posse literally cut and paste Madonna's "Human Nature" (S&M), "Like A Prayer" (Catholic imagery), and "Express Yourself" (black and white dance sequences), videos together for the scenarios in "Alejandro". For an artist who claims to be so avant-garde, Gaga doesn't shy away from ripping off her pop culture contemporaries (Madonna, Tarantino in the "Telephone" vid).
We're also a little perturbed at her shameless underwear dancing. Isn't this the same gal who complained about her record label demanding a sexed-up album cover? Why the double-standard? We're ready for some new concepts! Judge for yourself:
