Summer may be approaching, but all's fair in wearing leather before Memorial Day weekend. I was inspired by the amazing Alexander Wang corset shorts featured in a series of shots of fashion editor Stevie Dance on Jak & Jill, and dug up some leather pieces to squeeze in before the year's real heat wave starts.
Vintage Coach leather loafers, $109.99
Usually I don't like logos on shoes, but a friend of mine has these and insists they're comfy. Also, the typeface of the "Coach" logo, up close, is quirky and unique.
Brown leather shorts, $15
I know--when they're stand-alone, they don't look special. But pair these shorts with a patterned J.Crew blouse, and you may as well be wearing Wang. And at $15, what the hell?
BCBG leather taffetta button jacket, $117
You can throw this jacket on over a sundress or even a tee and a pair of high-waisted shorts to make a casual look more upscale. Or just leave it zipped under a skirt of a similar color to emphasize the uniform-ish style of the jacket.

Skip the ubiquitous Urban Outfitters fringed pieces you'll see on every other girl this summer and go for something more unique like this little handbag in bright yellow. Neon is for summer is what neutral was for winter, and you'll be psyched you did.
