Last Saturday marked one of the worst live performances I've ever seen on Saturday Night Live, as Ke$ha set a new low. Her first performance was "Tik Tok," with a special a capella beginning, lasers, and robot/space men. Naturally. Her dancing was atrocious, the song lacked energy and charisma (as well as vocal ability), and she threw in a pseudo-philosophical question asking "did anyone ever stop to think maybe WE are the ALIENS?"

Then, she decided to grace the audience with another tune, this time choosing "Your Love Is My Drug." I think the glow-in-the-dark body paint was some sort of attempt to distract us from her off key vocals, but unfortunately for all of us, it didn't work. Oh, K$, I feel embarrassed for you, especially since you chose to end your set by saying "It's Saturday night, do you wanna make out?" No, Ke$ha, I'd rather not taste pain killers, Jack Daniels, and vomit tonight... thanks.

If I haven't made it clear from previous posts, I dislike this "singer" quite a bit. One of my friends, thinking I was just being a music snob, questioned me about it, saying "is she really any worse than Britney Spears?" ABSOLUTELY. To start, Ke$ha only sings about getting drunk and having sex, she only has/had one hit song, and the SNL performance proves she can't sing and she can't dance. Britney couldn't sing but she could dance, she was great on stage, and she was crazy good looking. Also, she had a sense of humor (I still remember her SNL opening monologue poking fun at herself with lip-syncing and a robotic boob). Ke$ha is mediocre - awful in all areas... the best thing she has going for her is being a semi-cute blonde and frankly, even that is a stretch compared to other pop stars.

vs.

Basically, I am just waiting for the day when her one song will finally fade into obscurity and people will start minding that she is a black hole of talent and culture. And frankly, I think this abysmal show on Saturday Night Live tonight will help. Thanks for bombing, K$.
