On Tuesday night (Feb. 23) at 8 pm, NYU is hosting a concert with all of the proceeds going to UNICEF's relief efforts in Haiti. It's organized entirely by students and will feature some awesome musicians performing for the cause:

Opening the show is Nyle, a Philly-born veteran of the NYC underground. Upon his acceptance to New York University, Nyle became a staple within New York City's SinSin Circuit (one of the city's most respected collections of rappers). Nyle has translated his growing buzz into performance success. This summer Nyle performed at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival alongside legendary acts such as Dead Prez, Black Thought from the Roots, and Pharoahe Monch. His video for “Let The Beat Build” ranked #4 on SPIN’s The 20 Best Videos of 2009.
Also performing is Blitz the Ambassador, an MC from Ghana. Through an international lens, he blends the tradition of Ghanaian high life, melded together with the jazzy nuances of an upright bass, hints of reggae, orchestra strings and a horn section that has lifted live hip hop to new heights. With an array of exceptional instrumentation and penetrating lyrics, he displays a prowess for musicality that is unmatched, and conducts a live show experience that must be witnessed to understand its extraordinary value. He's often compared to KRS One and Chuck D from Public Enemy.
Katia Cadet is a singer, a prolific songwriter and a vocal producer. Born in Haiti, she writes in French, English and Creole, in many different styles and genres. She penned her first song at nine years old, started performing at twelve and has not stopped since. Baby Kat’s musical influences range from French classics to soulful R&B, and from world beat to reggae music. Singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Sade, Marvin Gaye, Brian McKnight, Bob Marley, and Lauryn Hill (to name a few) are sources of her creative inspiration. Her credits include music she wrote for Mary J. Blige and Wyclef Jean, which earned her a Grammy nomination in 2001 for the song “911”.
K. BAIN is hip-hop artist and social entrepreneur. K’s lyrical flow and storytelling ability represent a combination of new school swagga’ mixed with old school skills. With a free flowing style at once brash, smooth and dangerous all at the same time, K refuses to be categorized. His stories tell of the struggle and triumphs of a man doing what he can to find his way, however he can. With bass bangin’ beats by up and coming producers, the album has been hailed as “Future Classic Brooklyn." He has performed on stage alongside artists such as Nas, Usher, The Roots, and Fabolous.
Come out to NYU's Skirball Center (566 LaGuardia Place) this Tuesday for the 8 pm show to see these four phenomenal young artists perform and raise money for Haiti. Ticket information here.
