So, remember back in July when Girls frontman Christopher Owens abruptly announced he was leaving the band even though, last time I checked, he more or less was the band? Well, despite a quick foray into modeling (eye roll), Owens hasn't given up on music entirely—as announced via press release earlier today, the scrawny San Francisco auteur will release his debut solo album Lysandre on January 15 via Fat Possum Records.

Named after a girl Owens reportedly met at a French festival gig, the album was apparently written in a single sitting (which I'm guessing he thinks is a good thing, although, um…) and is "a coming of age story, a road trip story, a love story," as described by Owens, "Lysandre could easily be mistaken as an album about a love affair. But it's much more than that."
Sounds predictably portentous, but will it pack the same classic pop gooey goodness that made both Girls records so great? Judge for yourself—you can stream the album's first track "Lysandre's Theme" right here and presumed first single "Here We Go" below.
