It's been almost a month since Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong went on his bizarre onstage tirade at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas and subsequently checked himself into rehab, but what some expected to be a quick little detox session is quickly revealing itself to be a major time-out for the "Oh Love" singer.
Speaking with Rolling Stone, producer Rob Cavallo (who helmed the group's new trilogy of albums in addition to most of their old classics) offered an update on Armstrong's condition, saying it's unclear when he'll be up and at 'em again:
"He's under medical supervision for a while to get him clean. His doctors are still evaluating. All I can say is I don't know if we'll see him before or after Christmas. It's basically undetermined when he'll be back."
Billie Joe's trip to rehab has already put something of a stint on Green Day's promotional duties surrounding the new albums—they've already had to pull out of this year's Voodoo Arts & Music Festival and will surely have to cancel more shows and appearances if Armstrong's stay is extended too much longer.
With or without him, though, the band's next albums ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! are scheduled to drop November 13 and January 15, respectively. Watch the brand new teaser trailer for the former (featuring snippets of a few new songs) below.
