Fame, fortune, and the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. What more could a celebrity possibly want? An Olympic medal, apparently. While the London Olympics have sadly come to a close, the Olympians are busy making public appearances - and plenty of them. And the celebrities they encounter along the way can't help but wonder what it would be like to have an Olympic medal, even for a second.

Here are five stars (and two adorable dogs) who just couldn't resist holding that Olympic gold:
1. Neil Patrick Harris
When gymnast McKayla Maroney stopped by the set of How I Met Your Mother, Neil Patrick Harris had to pose with the incredible vaulter - and her medals. "Guess who visited HIMYM just now? Olympic Gold Medalist @McKaylaMaroney," he tweeted about the picture. "Here I am pointing at her."
2. Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell met Olympian swimmer (and heartthrob) Ryan Lochte on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. After Lochte took off his medals, Bell immediately picked them up and tried them on, exclaiming, "I like jewelry!"
3. Kelly Ripa
Jordyn Wieber and Aly Raisman represented the Fierce Five with an appearance on Live! With Kelly Ripa this morning. Kelly Ripa posed for a picture with the gymnasts, rocking a World Championship leotard and medal.
4. Alyson Hannigan
Neil Patrick Harris wasn't the only How I Met Your Mother star to be entranced by McKayla Maroney's gold medal. Alyson Hannigan posted a picture holding the gold on Instagram, captioning the photo, "It's a GOLDen day on the HIMYM set!!!"
5. Matt Lauer
Even veteran news anchor Matt Lauer couldn’t resist getting a taste of the Olympic glory, reaching out and touching Ryan Lochte's medals during an appearance on The Today Show.
6 and 7. Andy Murray's dogs
Okay, they might not be celebrities, but the pups, whose owner is tennis champ Andy Murray, are sure treated like royalty.
