Maybe I'm just dating myself but I can distinctly remember a time when Green Day made music (and videos) exclusively for pimply losers who stayed at home watching MTV, playing Sega Genesis and masturbating all day. (Oh the good old days.) You won't find any of those people in the "Oh Love" (see below) or brand new "Kill The DJ" music video, alas— in the band's latest ¡Uno! (out September 25) clip, Billie Joe Armstrong & Co. ride their dirt bikes across the desert to a (you guessed) seedy discotheque where plenty of blood and rock 'n' roll credibility gets spilled.
Coming fresh off a holiday weekend, I think I'll go ahead and skip the prerequisite drinking gametreatment—but needless to say, it's an equally groan-worthy video from yet another band that has more or less outgrown the need to make them. Not sure exactly what demographic the video is meant to enthrall; it's sort of a tie between vapid scenesters borrowing their older cousins' Dookie t-shirts for the night and… just kidding, I actually have no idea who this video is supposed to be for. Not going to jump on the "new album sucks" express before I hear it, but I don't need to see Billie Joe, Mike and Tre hanging out with more super models or attractive video extras either. Was pretty on the fence with the song to begin with and, well, sorry, but the video tips me from an upwards lilting "ehhhh" to a despairing "mehhhh."
Anyways, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! are out November 13th and January 15th, respectively. In the meantime, hit up our comments section below and let us know what you think of the new "Kill The DJ" video and the other new Green Day tunes we've heard thus far.
