The guidos are officially hanging up their wifebeaters and flattening their blowouts, my friends. MTV has canceled Jersey Shore and the upcoming sixth season will be its last.
MTV made the announcement today. The network will air a one-hour retrospective called "Gym, Tan, Look Back" on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m., right before the live MTV Video Music Awards. The special will feature cast interviews, memorable moments and a sneak peek at the new season. It will also be airing a marathon of old episodes leading up to the program.
As a Jersey Shore local who grew up with a strong disdain for guidos, even I can understand that this is the end of an era. The show has provided nonstop entertainment since its inception and it will surely be missed.
The final season of Jersey Shore premieres Thursday, Oct. 4 at 10 p.m. on MTV.
Are you sad that the show is ending?
