As someone who was born and raised at the Jersey Shore, no one hated the show more than me back when it all started. It meant more traffic on our highways, more bennies (non-locals) flocking the boardwalk, and more ways to give our actually-awesome towns a bad name.
Still, my friends and I found ourselves cracking up at the ridiculousness of it all as we gathered around to watch every week. Somehow, there was almost something endearing about it.
And there's no doubt the show brought in a lot of money for the area, which of course, is now destroyed in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
But as much as I hate the extra traffic and having to explain myself when people ask me where I'm from ("No, I'm not a guidette."), I think I may just miss watching these crazy kids every Thursday night.
