Ryan Gosling is in the works for directing his very first film that will star his Drive co-star Christina Hendricks. The actor will write and direct the new feature How to Catch a Monster and is said to be very grateful to producers Marc Platt, Adam Siegel and Bold Films for trusting him in his project. "I look forward to making this film with all of them," he said.
How to Catch a Monster is about a single mother (Hendricks) in a fantasy world. Her teenage son ultimately finds an underground road and underworld town.
"We are thrilled to be producing Ryan Gosling’s debut as a writer and director and continue our collaboration which began on Drive. He has composed a beautifully haunting script and has a very clear vision of how he will bring it to life. His ability to draw audiences into his world as an actor will serve him well as a filmmaker," Platt said in a statement.
It was just this week that his Stupid, Crazy, Love co-star Emma Stone revealed to Interview magazine that she actually goes to Gosling for advice on scripts. "I've asked him to read a couple of scripts. I just really like hearing his viewpoint because I know that it's never going to be tainted. He's very much his own person." If Ryan's just the way Emma says he is, then it looks like his writing and directing debut may be a win for the actor. Word is still out on whether or not he will actually be acting in the new project himself.
