Remember that giant angry robot head from Muse's "The 2nd Law – Unsustainable" video? (See below) That's got to be a tough job—spinning your head around all day, uttering, "Un-sus-tain-a-ble!" in that forced, stiff robot voice from 9 to 5. I bet after a long day at the office, he probably likes to go home, put his big rectangle shaped feet up, pour himself a drink and think about making sweet, sweet love to his robot lady companion down by the fireplace trash compactor.
How much do you want to bet that what he puts on the sound system sounds a lot like brand new Muse single "Madness"? The latest taste of The 2nd Law (out October 2) is, I'm glad to report, pretty far removed from the barrel-chested bombast of "Survival" and MSNBC-step rave-up of "Unsustainable." Check out the official lyrics video below.
A little bit of George Michael's "Faith"… a little bit of U2's "Mysterious Ways"… and good grief, a lot of "muh-muh-muh-muh-muh." Needless to say, though, it's the most promising thing we've heard off The 2nd Law thus far—a slow-building future sex burn that reaches a sweeping, classically Muse climax before cresting back into robo-boogie mode. Matthew Bellamy gets to work his best Bono impression and slip in a pretty tight, crisp guitar solo… moaning and cooing over a slender groove that's delightfully removed from the early Queen theatrics they're all adept at resorting to. Definite thumbs up.

Caro L:
I love the new single. After just one listen they had me again. Although I haven't yet heard "Faith" or "Mysterious Ways" in there. I definately hear some Queen resemblance and "I Want To Break Free"-style in the guitar solo...All in all though they have their own amazing sound and comparison to big acts isn't necessary cos they're their own big act! I say bring on 2nd Law!!
