Three members of the Russian feminist punk rock group Pussy Riot were condemned to two-year prison sentences today, and support for the group is pouring out from around the world.
Pussy Riot was found guilty of the laughable charge "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" after they staged an anti-Putin protest at a Moscow Cathedral. Dozens were arrested outside the courthouse, as protesters met the verdict with chants of "Shame!" Among those arrested outside the courthouse was famed chess champion and anti-Putin activist Gary Kasparov.

Protests by the likes of Occupy Wall Street, and others who have an interest in protecting free speech/combating facism, have taken place the world over, especially at Russian embassies.
Among the world-wide support, British left-wing rocker Billy Bragg sent Pussy Riot a note of support, telling them that they have a chance to change the world:

You've got to admire the courage of the women of Pussy Riot, in their quixotic attempt to stand up to the Russian arch-villain/sackof shit Vladimir Putin. Free Pussy Riot, you guys.
