After 11 weeks of awkward homework assignments, ridiculous music videos, and confusing eliminations, we’ve come to the finale, and the theme is, in true Glee Project fashion, yet another made-up word. Coming into the final episode, I thought Aylin was going to win because of her backstory, and that Ali was probably the most deserving, but I kind of wanted Blake to win because, well, he’s Blake. Let’s see how it all turned out.
Homework Assignment: “You Can’t Stop The Beat” from Hairspray
For the very last homework assignment, all the eliminated contestants came back (except for, you know, that one girl who quit) to serve as the trio’s backup singers. It was nice to see everyone reunited. Charlie, of course, ran straight for Aylin, and Michael and Blake shared a bro hug. Even though Ali was the clear standout during the performance, guest mentor Chris Colfer chose all three as the winners. Wow, what a copout.
Music Video: “Tonight Tonight” by Hot Chelle Rae
To keep the reunion going, the past contestants were also featured in the music video, as well as a “special guest”, season 1 winner Damian McGinty. Poor guy. He doesn’t even have a role on Glee anymore! The setting was prom, and each of the final three had a character to play. Blake was the humble prom king, Ali was the flirty mean girl, and Aylin was the girl who snuck out to the dance against her parents’ wishes. I’m not sure what kind of prom has swings and line dances, but mine sure didn’t.

Last Chance Performances:
Ali – “Popular” from Wicked
The final three got to decide what they wanted to sing for their last opportunity to impress Ryan Murphy, and I think Ali made the perfect choice. Her blonde perkiness is very similar to Kristen Chenoweth (who originally sang the song) and it’s clear that her voice is best suited to Broadway tunes.
Blake – “I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain
Blake’s performance was typical Blake, but the best part was when he stopped singing and broke out into some spoken word. That’s right, the guy read us some poetry. “I’m the guy who’s the whitest half-Cuban ever.” *snap* *snap* *snap*
Aylin – “Rolling In The Deep” by Adele
Picking an Adele song for the most important performance of your life is pretty daring, but Aylin did a better job than I thought she would. I have to mention Charlie’s little dramatic speech to Ryan about why Aylin should win. Did he have that memorized or something?
WINNER: Blake
I find it funny that after a whole season of the judges talking about inspiring Ryan, they pick the guy we don’t know anything about (except that he’s hot, which is, of course, very important). I’m sure that Blake will do a great job, although I’m not sure what kind of character they will write for him. And with that, I’m out. It’s been fun berating Ryan Murphy recapping the season for you guys. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that choreographer Zach “you guys look the best when you’re not dancing together” Woodlee is the best part of Glee by far.
SumOlogy: Congrats, Blake, I just hope your time on Glee doesn't go the way of Damian McGinty.
