Prince William isn’t the only celeb whose locks are under intense scrutiny.
Gymnastics two-time gold medalist Gabby Douglas has received backlash from those who believe that her relaxed hair doesn’t "represent" the African American community.

The gymnast’s hair, chemically straightened and often pulled into a ponytail, has been slammed on Twitter by critics who would rather see her in styles such as braids, curls, or even an Afro.
Douglas’ mother, Natalie Hawkins, was quick to defend her daughter and her hairstyle to Fashionista.com. "They don’t know about gymnastics," Hawkins said of the nay-sayers. "She had to keep her hair in a ponytail 28 to 30 hours a week. We grew her hair out because she preferred long hair."
Actress Gabrielle Union slammed Douglas’ critics as well. "Anyone who insults a TEEN who’s accomplished so much while displaying grace and dignity is beyond lame and should be ashamed of themselves," she tweeted. "#byehaters."
But Douglas is taking it all in stride. "She said, 'Really? I won two gold medals and my hair is trending?'" Hawkins said of her daughter’s reaction to the criticism. "We laughed about it."
Douglas, 16, won gold during the Women’s Team Final as part of Team USA, and she is the first-ever African American to win the Women’s Individual All-Around Final.
