Between all that singing, dancing, and pairing into every romantic combination imaginable, there’s sometimes room for (usually mediocre) acting on Glee. However, the judges haven’t seemed to take acting ability into consideration up until now, making this week pretty crucial. I don’t know about you, but I think it would be important to make sure a person can act before giving them a role on a TV show.
Homework Assignment: “Addicted To Love” by Robert Palmer
As an added twist, guest mentor Dianna Argon held up cards during the performance with certain emotions for each contestant to portray while singing. Michael had to act determined, while Lily got scared, Blake got angry, Aylin got anxious, and Ali got excited, although for her that didn’t require any acting at all. They all did a pretty good job, and Michael finally got his first homework win.

Music Video: “Perfect” by Pink
Instead of a normal music video, this week the group filmed a trailer for a fake movie entitled Perfect. Thank god the movie doesn’t really exist, because it sounded horrible. Let me see if I’ve got this straight: Aylin played a Muslim girl from a conservative family who was dating the quarterback, played by Blake. Not only was she pregnant with Blake’s baby, but she was also seeing his best friend Michael on the side. Then Ali played Michael’s sister who dreamed of being an Olympic runner until she was injured in a car accident, while Lily was racked with guilt because she was the one driving the car. It was a plot out of a freaking soap opera, and the acting was way over-dramatic. Not gonna lie, Michael shouting “AYLINNN!!” as she drove away made me laugh. But the worst part was probably how they gelled Blake’s hair back.
There was no bottom three; all of them had to perform not just for Ryan and the judges, but also six of the writers.
Last Chance Performances:
Michael – “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper
Michael was looking sharp in his tie, but unfortunately he got stuck with a bad song choice. He did the best he could with an acoustic version of a usually upbeat song.
Lily – “Son Of A Preacher Man” by Dusty Springfield
It was a very sweet performance, but it seemed like she was trying a little too hard.
Ali – “Here’s To Us” by Halestorm
Ali has the most powerful voice, even though her extreme perkiness can be a bit irritating at times.
Blake – “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John
Is it just me, or is Blake just a little too perfect? Maybe even a little on the bland side?
Aylin – “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera
I would have preferred a little more grit in her voice, but I thought she did the song justice.
Not Called Back: Michael and Lily
I’m kind of glad they cut two people, especially because neither of them had a good chance of winning anyway. Next week is the finale! Will Ryan Murphy stick to his word and only choose one winner? Place your bets now. Hey, no matter what, there are going to be fewer winners than last season!
