Despite all of the hoopla last year about Girls and Scandal and all the other new shows crowding the year for your attention, it might have been forgotten that HBO's Jeff Daniels-led The Newsroom was secretly one of the better new shows on TV. Sure, it may have been seen as a soapbox for Aaron Sorkin to channel all of his social commentary, but as far as soapboxes go, this was a damn enjoyable one.
So we're happy to hear that The Newsroom debuts its second season on Sunday, July 14th at 10pm, and although there will inevitably be plenty of Jim/Maggie and Will/MacKenzie relationship drama to go around, the new year, like its predecessor, won't be afraid to cover sensitive issues: the season will cover the tenth anniversary of 9/11, the Supreme Court's decision on the Affordable Care Act, and one of the most controversial events of 2012, ...
