According to Czech news service blesk.cz, Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe was finally released from jail after 38 days in custody. It's all a bit of a mess, as I'm sure you've likely been following, but Blythe is currently en route to the United States via a non-stop flight and, according to reps, will return to the Czech Republic to stand trial in connection with the accidental death of 19-year-old concert-going fan named Daniel N. According to reports, Blythe allegedly pushed the fan back from climbing on stage, apparently contributing to head wounds that lead to his death two weeks later. (The band's manager insists neither he nor the band were aware of the fan's death before returning to Prague last month.)
"As a world-renowned artist, in a specific genre of music… of course, he cannot afford to simply disappear," said Blythe's attorney Martin Radvan, addressing the flight risk concerns that kept Blythe in prison since June 27 despite posting bail. "If he wants to continue performing, he will have to return. And he wants to return because he believes he is not guilty of anything he has been charged with." And continue performing they shall—the band, who've had to cancel a number of live dates this summer, are confirmed for Knotfest in Council Bluffs, Iowa on August 17 and Somerset, Wisconsin on August 18.
Again, please send some positive thoughts towards Blythe, his friends and family while this awful, surreal situation slowly but surely resolves itself.
