We at SportsOlogy don't necessarily make NBA trade rumors, but we certainly curate them. In that respect we're sort of like the Jackson Pollock Museum of trade rumors; the untrained eye may look at us and see a conglomeration of random paint splatters, but a true art lover will appreciate the brilliance of the original work and the manner in which it's presented. On that note: The Boston Celtics might be willing to part with point guard Rajon Rondo in exchange for Los Angeles Lakers forward/center Pau Gasol.
The Jeremy Lin Fad Is Sweeping New York City: http://ology.com/sports/jeremy-lin-becomes-latest-fad-sweep-new-york-city/02072012
The origin of this particular rumor is Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak, who noted after a loss to the 76ers that the Lakers would love to acquire a "25-year-old, All-Star, ball-handling guard." THAT MEANS RAJON RONDO BECAUSE HE'S THE ONLY PERSON IN THE LEAGUE WHO FITS THAT DESCRIPTION!
Of course, the Lakers would have to give up a major piece, and that means Pau Gasol, who somehow is the only trade token LA has to offer other teams. Hoopsworld claims to have access to sources who claim the Celtics would be willing to discuss the trade. In other words, Hoopsworld invented some sources or knows a Lakers fan who talked himself into this deal before it reached an embryonic stage.
From the Celtics point of view, why wouldn't they trade Rondo to get older? If there's one thing the C's need, it's experience, and Gasol will bring tons of it to Boston. Oh wait, none of this makes any goddamn sense. We'll compare this to one of Pollock's early works: filled with potential, but lacking a committed move towards the abstract expressionism that would cement his legacy as one of art's greats.
