On the off chance you won't be spending nearly enough money on Green Day music this fall with, um, you know, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! dropping September 25, November 13 and January 15 respectively, the band has just announced the release of The Studio Albums 1990-2009, a comprehensive box set containing (you guessed it) all eight of the band's previous studio full-lengths.

Guessing this is probably geared towards the "Who's Green Day?" crowd, so here goes: the box set (out September 4) contains 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours (1990), Kerplunk (1992), Dookie (1994), Insomniac (1995), Nimrod (1997), Warning (2000), American Idiot (2004) and 21st Century Breakdown (2009). And a partridge in a pear tree.

As you can see from above, the albums all come packaged in those obnoxiously flimsy little cardboard sleeves that I'm hoping none of you are thinking, "Hey, those could totally replace my boring old plastic CDs I've owned and loved this whole time!" Again, unless you're a nineteen year old girl who bought the last two albums after seeing American Idiot on Broadway during a high school field trip, this is not the box set for you. Even if you're a post-Dookie relative latecomer (guilty), come on guys, Amazon previously owned that shit. Don't look directly into the box set's eyes! It has strange, dark magical powers! Resist, resist!
…So is anyone planning to ignore my advice and pick up a copy of the new Green Day box set anyway? Get the conversation started in our comments section below.
