In today's Hollywood Is Still Systematically Raping Your Childhood & Selling Its Broken Remains Back To You news, Vince Vaughn is currently in the process of producing a modernized Brady Bunch series for CBS that will act as a sequel to the original comedy that ran from 1969-1974, already responsible for a number of theatrical and televised spin-offs. Because we’re currently in a climate where everything we loved as kids is returning from their nostalgic graves as flashy, soulless pastiches of our youths, I guess it was inevitable that something like this would occur. The project is currently in the scripting phase with Mike Mariano (Raising Hope) helming the project.
Extreme cynicism is usually par for the course in situations such as this, but who knows? Maybe this was one of Vince Vaughn’s dream projects that he’s always wanted to do, spending every waking moment of his career dreaming up the perfect Brady Bunch pitch—or this is another in a long-line of cash-grab rehashes like Hawaii Five-O. I fucking hate that show.
