So I just watched the US women’s gymnastics team take home the gold, which I’m super excited about, but now I need to take a few minutes to talk about how pissed off I am about what happened on The Glee Project. I went from thrilled about seeing the love of my life, Darren Criss, on my TV to stunned and shouting at my screen as I realized that one of the frontrunners for the entire competition was going home. Some previous eliminations have mildly annoyed me (Dani, Charlie) but this one just left me straight up angry. But let’s back up a little bit, shall we?
Homework Assignment: “More Than Words” by Extreme
Now I’ve expressed my love for Darren Criss before on this site, so I won’t get into it again, but it was so nice to see him without an excessive amount of hair gel. With the theme being romanticality, the group had to be split into pairs. There were six contestants left but only two guys, so what did that mean? Time for some lesbian action! But even with Aylin and Lily making out, golden boy Blake was still declared the winner.
Music Video: “We Found Love” by Rihanna
The music video focused on couples as well, with Blake and Ali, Lily and Michael, and Shanna and Aylin all getting their Breakfast Club on as they ditched a weekend detention. Lily was sad that she wasn’t paired with Blake because she was crushing on him, but she suspected that everyone has a crush on Blake. Ain’t that the truth. The video was cute enough, but…wait a minute…did he really just ask her to prom in a janitor’s closet?

Last Chance Performances:
Aylin - “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack
Honestly, I thought it was kind of boring? Not memorable.
Blake – “Losing My Religion” by R.E.M.
Blake was definitely nervous, but he kept his cool and was pretty much perfect, as usual.
Shanna – “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson
Damn, girl. Way to be fierce, rocking the red lipstick and everything.
Not Called Back: Shanna
This decision was probably made because Ryan said something like “But guys, if Shanna wins a spot on Glee, we will actually have to write a character for her. That gives us less time to plan our One Direction tribute episode and getting Carly Rae Jepsen to guest star.”
How else do you explain Aylin, who has been in the bottom multiple times, sticking around while Shanna, who has been nailing it since day one, is sent packing? Don’t get me wrong, I think that Aylin’s Muslim background would make for an interesting storyline (and we all know Glee needs those). But this was Shanna’s first time in the bottom, and she gave a fantastic performance. I thought that she’d make it to the end for sure, and had a really good chance of winning. And let’s be real, they are only keeping Michael around so Blake isn’t the only dude left. Shame on you, Glee Project. Shame.
SumOlogy: You really screwed it up this time, Murphy.
