When pestered recently, Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack apparently revealed that the band recently recorded a double handful of new songs that could see the light of day as soon as next month. As described by Tom Waits (more on that in a moment), "Her music is like going swimming in a lake at night." Simultaneously bold and delicate, fluttering, dream-like acoustic art pop songs curling and billowing beneath Hoop's whispery, deliberate vocals. Raised in a traditional Mormon family, Jesca spent several years traveling the American West before settling down for five years at Tom Waits' home as the family nanny. Taking a liking to her songs, Waits ensured Jesca's demo tape made its way towards KCRW DJ Nic Harcourt. Following some airplay buzz over the song "Seed Of Wonder," Hoop signed with 3 Entertainment, releasing her full-length debut Kismet in 2007. In addition to a handful of EPs (not to mention touring slots with the likes of Eels, Andrew Bird, Elbow and Peter Gabriel), Hoop released her second album Hunting My Dress in 2009 and her latest, The House That Jack Built, this June.
