It is a truly bittersweet moment to write this post. After a year and a half, I am leaving my full time position at FilmOlogy to explore the great adventure known as screenwriting. Due to this, you’ll probably find me homeless and babbling in about two weeks, so I figured I’d take a moment to truly thank you, dear reader, from the bottom of my heart.
My time at Ology has been a dream come true. Who would have thought that I would be able to use my college degree in screenwriting in an actual writing job. Through this position I have been able to talk about film and TV all day. I was able to be narcissistic, sarcastic and analytical. It has been the best job in the world.
It’s actually pretty fitting that I should end my time here at the conclusion of the Dark Knight series, something I have worshipped for some time. But the pleasure of Christopher Nolan’s genius wasn’t all I felt free to shamelessly discuss on the internet- everything from colonics, to garlic bread, to the upcoming apocalypse and retrospective recaps of LOST...these are the things that I will miss.
Most importantly, the people that I have met at this job has truly become my family. It is a rare gift that the people you’re stuck in a room with all day are good people who make me laugh and put up with my DJing (90s music for the win). All their hard work and talent has inspired me and their comfort in the face of death threats from Joe Rogan fans has shaped, as cheesy as it is to say, long lasting friendships.
You’re going to see exciting things happen at Ology over the next few months, and I hope you join me by enjoying all the awesome content provided by both users and editors on our site. And fear not, to those of you who I have loved for loving me, I will continue to post on Ology on everything from movie trailers to reviews to interviews. I will not stop sharing my opinions, because this is the internet and I have an obnoxious, God-given right to do so.
But this is to really thank you for reading my work. This is to thank you, reader, for getting as excited and riled up about film and TV as I do. You’ve put up with my rants and for this you deserve medals. But mostly, you deserve internet hugs from me and maybe if I see you in a chatroom, I’ll buy you an internet beer. To me, you have become an indelible support system and I would not have learned, shared and loved without you.
