I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the astronomical levels of awesome surrounding David Byrne and St. Vincent's new collaborative album Love This Giant, out September 11 via 4AD/Todo Mundo. We've already gotten a good listen to blustery horn-driven opener "Who" (see below) and now, good golly Miss Molly, there's another song for our listening-whilst-freaking-the-eff-out pleasure.

If you hop over to lovethisgiant.com, you can stream both "Who" and the album's second track, a funky-as-shit horn section bop called "Weekend In The Dust" featuring a solo Annie Clark on lead vocals. While both songs are clearly cut from the same aesthetic cloth (a little bit of "Take Me To The River," little bit of St. Vincent's "Marrow," etc.), "Weekend In The Dust" is a sputtering, heavy-hitting proper jam—all '90s hip-hop beats, R&B hooks and Tom Waits horns: grungy, drunk and dirty as all hell. "Everyone gets up when you sit down," she coos, channeling her best Janet Jackson circa-"Nasty" on the saucy as shit chorus. Things get semi-atypical St. Vincent on the swirling bridge section, awash in warm vocal harmonies, but it's quickly back to the bump with a sharp guitar break over a woozy gang of trombones. Ugh, so good. Can't even deal.
But hey, dig this—pre-order the album in one of three different formats (digital, CD + digital or vinyl + digital) and get an instant download of "Weekend In The Dust." Win, right?
