Partly because we already figured out who killed Rosie Larsen, mostly because no one cared, and completely because the show dragged on the mystery across two seasons instead of one, AMC has canceled flailing series The Killing, shattering the opportunity for the show to, I don't know, bring Rosie Larsen back from the dead for a third season of dying. Here's a statement from the network explaining why that is:
"After much deliberation, we’ve come to the difficult decision not to renew The Killing for a third season. AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast."
Viewership for The Killing sunk from 2.7 in the show's series premiere to just 1.4 for the revealing second-season finale, and those numbers don't even come close to what fellow AMC series like Mad Men and Breaking Bad post by the week. For the six of you still interested, though, the network is still interesting in shopping the show around to other channels, in case anyone hasn't figured out how to drag on a solved mystery and still wants to give it a shot.
