Hear Lana Del Rey's Motown-Tinged "Queen Of Disaster" Leak
Lana Del Rey could very well and should probably consider foregoing releasing new albums altogether and just keep these actually pretty great song leaks coming. (A little bit goes a long way.) The latest: a lively, Motown inspired bit of business titled "Queen Of Disaster." No word from Del Rey or her reps re: where the song came from or whether or not it'll appear on the aforementioned follow-up to Born To Die, but let's face it: there's a new Lana Del Rey tune that isn't overwrought eye-roll fodder. Best not to question these things.

Lana Del Rey Drops Video For 'Great Gatsby' Cut "Young & Beautiful"
Judging from the early reviews, you're better off sitting through Lana Del Rey's new "Young & Beautiful" music video than Baz Luhrmann's big budget mess of an adaptation of The Great Gatsby in which the song appears. Directed by Chris Sweeney and Sophie Muller, the clip finds Del Rey hanging out with a full orchestra, looking as blankly uncaffeinated as ever under her favorite Instagram filter.

Lana Del Rey: Hear Both Versions Of 'Great Gatsby' Single "Young & Beautiful"
We've heard the preview snippet and now Lana Del Rey's new single (as featured on Baz Luhrmann's Jay-Z curated The Great Gatsby soundtrack, out May 7) is here in all its glammed-out, gloriously vapid splendor… in both regular and extra cinematic orchestral versions, to boot!

"When I was 11, I saw Kurt Cobain singing 'Heart-Shaped Box' on MTV and it really stopped me dead in my tracks," gushed Lana Del Rey during a radio interview late last year. "I thought he was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. Even at a young age, I really related to his sadness." The easy-to-loathe Born To Die singer played out what sounds like a near-lifelong dream at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney last night, where she performed a (much as I hate to admit it) pretty moving rendition of the Nirvanaclassic.
Sure, it's nowhere near as raw (musically or emotionally) as the In Utero original… but I don't know, she really pulls the sadness out of the melody in an interesting, unexpected way. I honestly didn't expect to do anything but hate this, but she really makes it her own—the strings and guttural electric guitar arrangement really works, and while she doesn't quite land the octave jump before the second chorus, I wasn't at all expecting it and got (gasp) a genuine thrill hearing her really go for it. Fingers crossed we'll get a proper studio recording on the new re-release of Born To Die (see above).

Maybe he's just a stronger Nirvana fan than Lana Del Rey fan. Don't you like the original music of your favorite band over covers? Relax over there..

I am also amazed at your comment "hate to admit it", why?? Have the decency of not bringing your hate before you hear something!

Will Nill:
You hate to admit it? Why would you say that? You really do need to dispense with those pre-conceived ideas if you want to be a professional music critic.
