No one's exactly sure why Madonna only opted to perform 8 songs at the Olympia Theatre in Paris last night, but the French crowd (comprised of mainly fan club members, who were offered first dibs at tickets for the last-minute MDNA tour stop) sure wasn't happy about it. According to reports, Madonna ended her conspicuously amended set with a cover of Serge Gainsbourg's "Je T'aime... Mon Non Plus" (you know, as one does) before walking off stage to chants of "Remboursez!" ("Refund!") and "Salope!" ("Slut!"). Yeah, ouch.

Could it be that, without all the fake guns and Nazi imagery and "wardrobe malfunctions," there's genuinely only about 45 minutes worth of music at a Madonna show? In any case, the 2,700 fans in attendance apparently paid upwards of 280 Euros (or about $346) for tickets and, well, if you ask me, had every right to be pissed. Eight songs is pretty skimpy for anyone… and one-eighth of the set wasn't even Madonna music! What a gyp, Madonna.
By most accounts, it's been a turbulent tour for Madonna thus far—exactly how much of the faux-controversy has been her design is anyone's guess, though you can't help but think that, at this point in her career, Madonna has proven willing to pursue any avenue to make her live performance a little more buzz-worthy. Even if it means, you know… not performing.
