On the offhand chance you're not familiar with UK artist Kid Acne's cult comic book character Zebra Face and you're wondering what Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker has to do with a hip-hop obsessed zebra and his sidekick Durable Mouth Organ Diabetic (just go with me on this), here's what's what: the beyond-wonky comic series has been adapted into a full color animated series by Sheffield designer Paul Reardon and will air across the pond on Channel 4's Random Acts.
If you're a major Zebra Face fan or just want to see a cartoon sun that sounds more than a little like Jarvis Cocker, you've come to the right place. Check out the Zebra Face: Animated Series trailer below.
Don't know what to make of it… don't know how Jarvis got involved. Perhaps his little cameo in Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox has inadvertently inspired an entire side career in quirky animation projects? Who knows? In any case, yeah, there's a crazy crime fighting (I guess?) Zebra and his "glucose-heavy sidekick" and WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SHOW ALL ABOUT THEN, EH? No idea, but it looks pretty great. If you're willing and able to watch it, keep your ears peeled for the fine vocal talents of Lady Chann, Juice Aleem, Infinite Livez, Taskforce, Farma G and even original artist Kid Acne himself. (UK Ologists can watch Zebra Face episodes once they've aired right here.)
