You know, I absolutely believe that gay couples should receive the same legal rights that heterosexual couples do, but calling a gay union a "marriage" is not necessary for this to be accomplished. While I am not particularly concerned with the terminology and rhetoric surrounding this controversy, as a Christian I am aware of the sanctity in a marriage done God's way, and I am not ashamed to be an advocate for Godly marriage. I would like to add, however, that heterosexual couples in this country have been making a complete mockery of marriage for decades now, and we need to stop scapegoating our own problems on the gay community.
