As you (should) know, Pet Shop Boys are returning with new album Electric (their second in less than a year following last fall's Elysium) on July 16. The album—a return to upbeat, current dance fare a la Very—jump starts a fall U.S. tour which kicks off September 12 in Miami Beach, FL (check out the complete dates here). If you haven't yet, check out the video for lead cut "Axis" right here and then check out a brand new song called "Vocal" in the media gallery above.

Okay… so… the new Pet Shop Boys album is called Elysium. It's their first since 2009's Yes. It drops September 18. It has an amazing new song called "Invisible" and a pretty "meh" single called "Winner"… which itself has an outstanding new music video featuring a London roller derby league and one transgender rookie's heartfelt initiation into the group.
The song itself is a groaner, but if you're like me, you won't even be paying any attention to it. Check the video out below.
Amazing, right? No one does camp better (or bolder) than the Pet Shop Boys, but this is a genuinely inspiriting, sincere little treatise on community and team building without an ounce of cynicism. The song, meanwhile, goes from being an opportunistic Olympics tie-in (or so it really, really wants you to believe) to an affectionate can-do anthem… as if Neil and Chris wrote it just for Dirty Diana… who, can I just say, is kind of one of the more attractive girls on the team. I'm totally okay with admitting that.
