Mothers Against Guns joined the anti-Madonna club (in case you're keeping track, it includes the Catholic League, the FCC, Sean Penn, Al Qaeda and diehard Evita fans, amongst others) this weekend when the Material Attention Seeker ignored requests from local police to cut the fake gun waving routine from her concert in Murrayfield, Scotland.

So that's two wardrobe malfunctions, one incident of swastika usage, one insensitive appearance in Poland on World War II Remembrance day [all via Jezebel] and a partridge in a pear tree. Even by Madonna standards, the ongoing MDNA tour has been nothing if not headline starved. Could be because Madonna's desperate to remain edgy and/or relevant amidst a new generation of pop nobodies she helped spawn. Could be because her album itself isn't much to write about. Who knows? Who cares?
This is one of those stories where you kind of feel like you should be offended or upset… but just can't quite bring yourself to feel anything. I doubt this is what the pundits and politicians had in mind whilst demanding a national dialogue on gun control in the wake of the senseless massacre in Aurora, Colorado. I also doubt that Madonna live in that much of a bubble that she'd be completely oblivious to how the fake gun thing would come across. "So basically you're just saying that everyone is a moron and we should just let this non-scandal fall by the proverbial wayside?" Yeah, pretty much.
How do you guys feel about Madonna latest attention grab? And the fact that we keep falling for it every damn time? Get the conversation started in our comments section below.
